Frequently asked questionsFAQs
Subleasing gets you a ready-to-live apartment fast. Most Ohana apartments are furnished, with utilities set up, and shorter, flexible terms so you’re not locked into a long lease. It’s considered cheaper than hotels or corporate housing, and you can try a neighborhood before committing. In short: less hassle, lower cost, authentic, and more flexibility.
Ohana holds the security deposit, and no funds are released to the host until you confirm with Ohana that you’ve successfully moved into the unit. If you arrive and the unit is inaccessible, uninhabitable, or fraudulent we will issue you a full refund immediately and assist you in finding a new place as quickly as possible.
All Guests pay a one-time $100 booking fee and a 7% surcharge of the host's payout. The prices shown on the listing page include this 7% fee.
All bookings are provided with a standard lease or sublease agreement that have a cancelation policy shown under the ‘Cost To Cancel’ section. Generally, the cost of cancellation increases as you get closer to the move-in date.
Ohana offers and schedules intro calls for you and your host to meet so you can ask the host questions about their unit, have a virtual tour and get to know each other. Ohana will send you a Google Meet link for the virtual meeting, and an Ohana team member will be present to guide you through the process.

Your booking is confirmed once (1) both parties have signed the sublease/lease agreement and (2) the security deposit has been paid. The security deposit is only charged once the agreement is fully signed. Once confirmed, Ohana will share your contact details with each other, and share an arrival guide a few days before move-in.
Utilities and wifi.
ACH payments carry a 0.8% processing fee, capped at $5.00. Credit and debit card payments carry a processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30, with an additional 1.5% surcharge for non-US cards. These processing fees are passed through directly from the payment processor. Ohana does not retain any profit from them.
